Halloween 2012

Happy Halloween!

We had a busy day.  I took this photo in front of Mark's parents' house just before we left for our small town's Halloween festival "Halloween on the Square".

Ben and Will had fun selecting their costumes this year.  Ben was Captain America and Will was Ironman.  We felt safe knowing that we had so much protection with these superheroes among us :)

Halloween on the Square is one of the best things our small town does.  It's a safe environment where all of the local businesses, churches and organizations give away candy to the trick-or-treaters.

I hope your Halloween was full of fun like ours was!

Fall Festival Fun

Tonight we had the elementary school Fall Festival.  Finally the boys are old enough to play the games at the different booths that each class sets up.  Will and Ben had a great time.

Ben's spin landed on gold!  Grand prize!!!

The tickets were used up faster than I thought.

The pencil pull in in a big round hay bale was simple but fun nonetheless.  The ends of the pencils are color coded to match tubs of prizes.  If the game ends in a prize then it's a winner with my boys.

Fishing

Will caught a green fish!

Will loved the inflatable slide, but Ben was a little unsure.

What a fun night!

What I Wore Wednesday {September 2012}

What I Wore Wednesday {September 2012}

The weather in Texas did not get the memo that fall is here.  In most of the photos I'm wearing clothes that I wear during the summer.  We had just a couple of days of cooler weather.  It usually doesn't get cold in Texas until November.  I'd love to wear cardigans and more layers, but that's impossible with the temperatures around here.

I only took photos for 10 outfits.  As usual, I'm a month behind in getting my WIWW posted.

Fall at The Land

I blew up instagram on Sunday with photos from our land in the country AKA "The Land".  We haven't been out to the land in a long time, but it's recently been mowed and now we can walk around.  There are beautiful fall leaves still clinging to the trees, hidden paths, and exposed rock to run and play on.  We plan to have a camp out there very soon.  We also plan to have our family photos taken there this weekend.

This is my favorite photo of the Red Oak tree leaves.

Path

This is where we plan to build our future home once these Cedar tress are cleared.

Will and Ben will love it when we move to The Land.  I can imagine many hours of exploring in the woods.  I hope and pray that we can make this dream of building our forever home a reality sooner rather than later.

The Land also has this neat exposed white rock.  The boys and I ran around on it and played chase.  They have already named some of the higher spots--one area they called "Kings Hill".

Beautiful fall leaves that haven't fallen to the ground.
This Red Oak has golden leaves...weird that it's a Red Oak, right?

Hello, Sun! Peeking through the trees.  I could wander these wooded paths all day long.

This path is where we hope to have our future driveway.  I love how the trees form a canopy over the path.
One word--idyllic

Along the path above I spotted these pretty wildflowers.  Maybe some type of Aster? I don't know.

Hope you enjoyed my walk through the woods at The Land!

Trade Days = Treasure Hunt

We had the perfect day to go on a treasure hunt last Friday.  The local trade days was happening, and we stopped by Friday after school to search for treasures.  The weather was nice, and I was able to convince Mark and the boys to let me prowl around for about an hour.  My guys don't like to go to trade days, but they know that I do so once or twice a year they humor me and go.

The first booth I walked into had this milk glass cake stand (pie server) for $10.  You know I have an obsession with milk glass (just a few posts where I've expressed my love for milk glass: herehere, here, here, and here).  Thanks to my dear aunt I have a pretty enviable collection.

I saw this crock just as we were about to leave.  They were covering the tables at the booth getting ready to close for the evening, and I spotted it on the ground under one of the tables.  It was only $2!

I really wanted a funnel cake but didn't have time to get one.  Maybe next time...

Happiness Is...

Happiness is Fall!

Do you have a favorite season or time of year?

I do, and it's Fall.

It finally feels like Fall here in Texas.  I'm so thankful for the cooler weather.

This weekend we were running errands and Whole Foods had an awesome pumpkin patch set up in front of its store.  The boys sat in the child-size Adirondack chairs, and I snapped a quick pic.  Anytime I see a pumpkin display I make Will and Ben pose for a photo. Sadly, they will probably hate Fall because of my obsession with it.

More photos from Whole Foods

Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks
As my friend Staci says, "It's Fall in a cup."  Best description I've heard.

Pumpkins on my front porch with the scarecrow's leg in the background.

Whimsical Halloween decorations line the walkway to our house.

Fall wreath on my front door

Pretty mum in my flowerbed.

This huge mum is from our local feed store.  I can't wait until it blooms.  I'm thinking about picking up a couple more of these to give as gifts.

Happy Fall Y'all!
