Mark was a teacher and basketball coach in his hometown in Texas. I'd recently graduated from college and returned back to my hometown (only 7 miles from Mark) after living in Seattle for six months. Mark and I met at a teacher inservice and worked in the same building. We started dating at the beginning of October and got engaged a few months later. Mark proposed on February 2, 2002 or 02-02-02. Mark's a math teacher so numbers are a big deal to him.
Since we're both teachers it made since for us to have a summer wedding, which meant we only had a few months to plan and prepare for our big day. We planned a very simple church wedding with a reception in the church's fellowship building.

On June 29, 2002 we had our wedding. We were surrounded by our loving family and sweet friends. I couldn't think of a better way to start our life together. What a special and happy day!
