About Me

Here’s the important stuff--
Christian.
Wife to Mark.
Mommy to Will and Ben.
Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend.
Observer of life in a small town in Texas.
Aggie.
Junior High history teacher.

Here’s some fluff--
When I'm not exhausted from being a mom and working full-time, I like to hang out on other people's blogs to see what creative things they are up to. Lately I've been dreaming about our future home so I’m reading interior design and home renovation blogs for inspiration. If I’m not hanging out in my alternate-internet-blog-reality, I like traveling, shopping, cooking, gardening, reading, listening to good music, watching a little TV, Pinterest, Instagram, vicariously crafting through others and vacuuming (that’s right, I like to vacuum).

If you are interested in knowing a little bit more about me,

**********************************************************

I grew up in a small town in Texas by way of the Philippines. I was born in the Philippines because my father was in the military.  He married my mother, a native Filipino, and they had me and my older brother.  I ended up in Texas because that's where my paternal grandparents lived.  My parents divorced, and at ten weeks old my brother and I were brought to Texas.  My grandparents adopted me and raised me as their own.  I lived in the same small town and attended the same small school my entire life.  It was a really nice place to grow up, and I had a very happy childhood despite being somewhat unconventional.

After high school, I attended East Texas Baptist University for two years.  After two wonderful years at ETBU, I decided to transfer to Texas A&M University.  Whoop!  I made some of the best friends I've ever had at ETBU and Texas A&M.  I love those girls and am blessed to have their friendship.  After I graduated from A&M, I moved to Seattle, WA for six months and loved it!   I took a temporary job as a student director for the Baptist Student Ministry/Baptist Collegiate Ministry at the University of Washington.  When that job was complete, I moved home to Texas and accepted a job teaching junior high history in a small town just seven miles from the town where I grew up.  I started teaching in the fall of '01 thinking I would only teach one year, but that all changed when I met Mark.

Mark and I are teachers at the same school, and he's also from the small town where we live and work.  We've been happily married since June 2002.  We've been blessed with two incredible, awesome, smart, adorable, amusing, silly, sweet, cute, energetic, precious, little boys, Will and Ben.   They are our pride and joy.

We're very happy with our simple life in the country.  We also take full advantage of being only 30 minutes from civilization (AKA Super Target) and the major conveniences of Dallas and its suburbs.

My faith is extremely important to me.  I'm thankful for the love of Christ and God's grace and patience.  Mark and I are very involved in our church, the Church of Christ, in the small town where we live.  Our goal is to honor God and live our lives in such a way that others know we are faithful Christians.

If you'd like to know why I started to blog, I share the reasons here in my first ever blog post.

I hope you stick around for more of our Imperfectly Wonderful World.  You might find that we have a lot in common.  Who knows?   We might even be kindred spirits who end up becoming good friends.
