Road Trip 2011 {Texas to Tennessee}

Road Trip 2011 {Texas to Tennessee}

I've waited so long to share our road trip photos that I decided to take my time and break it up in several posts.  Here's the first, which will include photos from the first day of our vacation.

We left on June 7th.  We traveled from Texas to Lebanon, Tennessee.

I loved this photo of the back of our vehicles.  Mark's parents' car is on the right and ours is on the left.  From a distance it looks like our cars are packed identically.  We are somewhere in Tennessee at a Cracker Barrel.  I love to stop at Cracker Barrels when we are on the road.  It's predictable you and you know what you are going to get.  I like the simple menu and the boys love to play and stretch their legs in the country store.

Getting ready to order.

Tennessee welcome center in Memphis.  Mark and I have traveled through here several times and I just found a photo of us in front of this statue that was taken back in 2003.

Ben and I with the Interstate 40 bridge and the Mississippi River in the background.  I look pretty rough here.  We'd been traveling for at least 7 hours.

Finally we stopped at a hotel in Lebanon, TN.  The boys were so happy to be out of the car.  We had an adjoining room with Mark's parents.  The boys went back and forth until we closed the doors and corralled them in our room.  Before bedtime Ben decided to get Papaw Jerry's glasses and wear them.  Ben thinks everything he does is funny, and we do to!  Here he is writing on a notepad.

We didn't let him wear the glasses very long.  Just long enough to take this photo.  We all thought it was hilarious.  He's really concentrating.

Tomorrow I'll share photos of our short stay in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

  4. Good gravy girl, you went to my neck of the woods! I live in Knoxville, TN, so Pidgeon Forge and Gatlinburg are frequently visited by our family- especially summer trips to Dollywood! :0)
