Americana

I'm still organizing and editing photos from our road trip to New Mexico.  Hopefully I'll have some blog posts sharing our latest adventure soon. Until then, here's the first part of our trip via instagram.

We drove to Amarillo, Texas the first day and stayed the night there.  It was so nice to break the drive up into two days.  It's possible to drive all the way to New Mexico (and even Colorado) without stopping, but that's difficult with two small children.  Once we arrived in Amarillo we had some time to spare so we went to Cadillac Ranch.

It's roadside Americana at its best.

The boys are still talking about the cars and the spray paint.

The next morning we had breakfast and hit the road.  Only in Texas would you get a Texas waffle.  The boys were disappointed when we ate breakfast at the next hotel and the waffle was not in the shape of Texas.

New Mexico or bust!

Before we left Texas we stopped by Adrian, Texas.  My boys LOVE the Disney Pixar Cars movies so we had to stop by this famous Route 66 spot.

Road Trip 2012 theme :)
"Well, the road didn't cut through the land like that interstate. It moved with the land, it rose, it fell, it curved. Cars didn't drive on it to make great time. They drove on it to have a great time."

  3. I apparently need to make a stop at midpoint. Not only do my boys love Cars but the name...I didn't even know it existed. Looks like fun!

  4. LOVE your pictures. You are so smart to have broken that drive up into 2 days. Last year when we went Boyd was an ANGEL. This year, he was not. :)

  5. I LOVED seeing all these pics on IG! I am a huge fan of Texas and haven't spent nearly enough time there! Maybe next year when Ole Miss plays A&M we'll come to TX and we can meet :} I'm nominating you for the Versatile Blogger Award in my post today. I'm so happy we've "met" through blogging, seriously one of the best gifts my blog has brought me. Have a great week!!!
