Just Do It

I have a million other things I should blog about right now, but instead I have running on my mind.

Mark and I were runners before we met and we continued to run until we had children.

Children change everything.

Our lives became so busy that we just didn't make time for running. So if you've never really heard me talk it about it on the blog, it's because we haven't been runners for a very long time.  I've never talked about exercise a lot on my blog because, well, I don't exercise.

That's about to change.  I'm not going to become obsessive about it, but I am going to try to make it more a part of my life.

What's brought about this sudden change?

The scales!  Ugh!

AND

A few unflattering photos from vacation, which I will not be sharing, made me realize that I have to change my lifestyle.  The camera doesn't lie.  Oh, how I wish it did.  The photos from vacation confirmed what I'd refused to believe.  I've let myself go.

I'm going to try to eat less sugar (or as my grandma would say "sweets"), drink more water and exercise.

I'm putting this out there more for me than anyone else.  I hope it's some sort of cyber-accountability.

Goal: Look Better and Feel Better (both inside and out)

  1. I've always worked out but have been slowly gaining weight anyway. I'm realizing that as I get older (gasp!) that I need to cut out the unhealthy foods too. It is such a struggle for me. I love my sweet sugary goodies. Ugh. Good luck to you!

  2. I've needed this reminder for a year now...but I've never been athletic nor excercised. Ever. I've tried. Bought the perfect-for-me sneakers and cool Nike gear, but I only ran once six years ago and that is seriously a problem now.

Guess it's time to quit putting blocks in my way and just lace up. Can't wait to hear more about your running adventures.

  4. I am trying to go walk at least a couple of times a week and watch what I eat. Good luck! :)

  5. I think you look beautiful in your photos! It looks like you had a wonderful trip... through your 'what you wore' photos in the last post. :) Feeling better is a great goal though. I can really tell a difference between when I am working out and when I am not. I also need to make it more of a priority!

  6. HI Michele!
Catching up with your blog tonight.
Good for you for getting out those running shoes!!
My husband and I have always tried to maintain some sort of excersice routine, but recently have really kicked it into high gear and we both just feel so much better.
I had a dr appt in January of this year and just about died when I read that scale. That was all the motivation I needed.
I am cheering you on in this cyber world! You can do it!!! It's easy once you get started!

  7. ps- But just for the record, I do think you look great. But I know that more importantly it's how you feel inside.

    Good luck Michele!
